From the artist:
• I have based the artwork on the theme of celebration. In the spring of 1914, the city of St Louis celebrated its 150th anniversary by staging The Pageant and Masque of St. Louis. It was one of the largest theatrical events ever presented.
• The area that became St. Louis was a center of the Native American Mississippian Culture. The city sits on the ancestral lands of the Illini Confederacy and the Osage Nation. The Native Americans built massive earth structures, earning St. Louis the nickname "Mound City".
• The RM easter egg is the necklace that was a favorite of Raul's.
• I have used the venue's logo and embellished it with 1960's Fillmore lettering to give more cohesion with The Mavericks & Friends lettering.
• The artwork of the Indian pays tribute to the poster created at the time by one of the most famous American artists from the turn of the century JC Leyendecker.
